On July 2, 1900, FC Germania 1896, predecessors of the leading club in the first place. FC Kaiserslautern, and Fußballgesellschaft 1899 (Football Association) merged to form FC Kaiserslautern 1900. Some nine years later, two other important events in the history of the FCK occurred.
HR 1900 is the first club to win the Championship club West Kaiserslautern. That same year, tied FC 1900 FC 1901 and FC Bayern Palatia in 1902, two clubs, which were developed when the Foundation, FC 1900. These three teams are formed FV 1900 Kaiserslautern. FV 1900 Kaiserslautern played Westkreisliga (8 stairs League Soccer in Germany, which covers only the teams in each region of the teams) until 1914. In 1919, FV 1900 Kaiserslautern was a founding member of Bezirksliga (District League), but was reduced after four years due to a reduction in the championship.
On May 28, 1929, FV 1900 Kaiserslautern affiliated with SV Phönix 1910 and took the name of Phönix FV Kaiserslautern. It was not until 1932 that the club changed its name to become the first FC Kaiserslautern.
Having regard to the second place in the league, FCK qualified to participate in the German championship in the South, a year later. In subsequent years, the club experienced the ups and downs. In 1942, FCK won the Westmark Gauliga for the first time, and then qualified for the finals of the German championship. After two failed attempts, FC last won the German championship for the first time in 1951. The team defeated Kaiserslautern Preußen Münster 2-1. Thank you to a 4-1 victory against VfB Stuttgart, FC managed to win the crown again two years later. Unfortunately, not to defend their title, however.
Despite the five FCK players formed the core of the German national team during the legendary World Cup in Switzerland in 1954. One year after the great success of the World Cup, 1 FC Kaiserslautern in Germany has reached the final of the championship for the third time in a row. This time, however, they lost 3-4 against Rot-Weiss Essen.
In 1961, the "Red Devils" has reached the (German Football Federation) DFB Cup for the first time (0-2 against Werder Bremen). During the last years of existence Oberliga, FCK has risen up and won the championship last year the south-west. Because of the excellent investment, FCK was one of 16 founding members of the German Bundesliga (the highest division in Germany, soccer). However, Kaiserslautern failed to show the same dominance in the Bundesliga as they did in the south-west Oberliga and placed in the middle or bottom of the table.
In 1972 came FCK DFB (German Football Association) Cup final for the second time. Unfortunately they were defeated 0-5 by Schalke in the 04th the following season, took the "Red Devils" are included in the UEFA Cup for the first time and even reached the quarter-finals.
In 1976 and 1981 FC participated in the final of the DFB (German Football Association) Cup again and again lost. In 1981-1982 the Kaiserslautern team even reached the semifinals of the UEFA Cup.
